All colors and cares glaze to gray, shriveled and stricken to dots left hand grasps what the body grasps not, le photographe est mort

Tell me what you were thinking to treat somebody so, the care he took, the lengths to which he'd go, the coals are hot to walk across without your shoes but in the end know that you've got nothing to lose

That is why it is so important to let certain things go. To release them. To cut loose. People need to understand that no one is playing marked cards; sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Don’t expect to get anything back, don’t expect recognition for your efforts, don’t expect your genius to be discovered or your love to be understood. Complete the circle. Not out of pride, inability, or arrogance, but simply because whatever it is no longer fits in your life. Close the door, change the record, clean the house, get rid of the dust. Stop being who you were and become who you are.

I'm the one that drives away then follows you back home

What matters in life is not what happens to you but what you remember and how you remember it

What about you? Are you happiest and saddest right now that you’ve ever been?” “Of course I am.” “Why?” “Because nothing makes me happier and nothing makes me sadder than you”. Nicole Krauss, The History Of Love

Take it in your stride but don't string me along, I wouldn't tie you down but if you did do me wrong

BE KIND. Kindness is underrated. We could always use more of it. We tend to worship visionaries and creative people (like Steve Jobs and Pablo Picasso) and elevate them to the status of gods, even though they were often assholes (like Steve Jobs and Pablo Picasso). Stop praising the jerks. It reinforces bad behaviour (all the parents in the house know this).

She was ready to deny the existence of space and time rather than admit that love might not be eternal

…I can’t think of any greater happiness than to be with you all the time, without interruption, endlessly, even though I feel that here in this world there’s no undisturbed place for our love, neither in the village nor anywhere else; and I dream of a grave, deep and narrow, where we could clasp each other in our arms as with clamps, and I would hide my face in you and you would hide your face in me, and nobody would ever see us any more.
Franz Kafka, The Castle

Shadows fall and a cold wind blows and you said oh maybe we're just lost souls here, maybe oh everybody goes

Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia…You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you’ll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present. John Green, Looking for Alaska

I'd rather sing one wild song and burst my heart with it

είμαστε όλοι πολύ περήφανοι για σένα!

Remember the quiet wonders, the world has more need of them than it has for warriors

I guess you're either headin' somewhere or ending up somewhere...  cause I tried the bible, tried the bottle, tried the needle, tried to love people - and in the end there ain't much to say,  and in the end there ain't much to say anyway. And I stand here in my shoes, unable to move,  my hat in my hands, at the bottom of the ocean.

It seems to me that in the world there now exist only stories that remain suspended or get lost along the way

The one thing you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and dance and build and play and dance and live as only you can. The moment that you feel that just possibly you are walking down the street naked…that’s the moment you may be starting to get it right. Neil Gaiman

Somebody told the stars you are not coming out tonight and so they found a place to hide

When we hold each other, in the darkness, it doesn’t make the darkness go away. The bad things are still out there. The nightmares still walking. When we hold each other we feel not safe, but better. “It’s all right” we whisper, “I’m here, I love you.” and we lie: “I’ll never leave you.” For just a moment or two the darkness doesn’t seem so bad. Neil Gaiman, Neil Gaiman’s Midnight Days

For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's words await another voice
